"We were involved in a COOL:Gen client/server development project that required a high-quality GUI incorporating detailed printing and reporting with Microsoft Word and Excel. The COOL:Gen toolset provided an interface but with limitations such as the inability to trap and report errors. Rainier's WinFun, WordFun and ExcelFun provided the solution - allowing the desktop applications to be easily manipulated from within COOL:Gen code, and providing a wide range of additional functionality with the ability to trap errors and act upon return codes.

Once installed on a PC the Rainier components were available to COOL:Gen like any other ActiveX control making the functions extremely simple to use within the COOL:Gen action diagrams. The detailed documentation and on-line help gave good guidance on how to use the functions. We were able to return large volumes of data from our COOL:Gen servers and to produce complex reports using Excel (via ExcelFun) and mailshot letters using Word (via WordFun) without the need for EABs or complex technical knowledge. I would recommend these products as a useful addition to any COOL:Gen development. "
